PRGF (plasma rich in growth factors) is a procedure in which we prepare a plasma with concentrated platelets from a small amount of your own blood and introduce it into the skin of the face with fine injections. Because it is entirely your own material, there is no allergic reaction, and the effect builds gradually: the skin becomes better hydrated, firmer and more even. Usually 3 sessions 3–4 weeks apart are needed, and the result lasts 6–12 months.
I have used the same procedure in implantology for years to speed up the healing of gum and bone after implant placement and during bone grafting. In the skin the growth factors from the platelets work in the same way: they stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin and improve blood supply.
Who it is for
- Women and men between 30 and 65 with fine lines, tired, dull or dry skin and the first signs of lost elasticity.
- Sun-damaged skin, enlarged pores or shallow acne scars; here the improvement is moderate and gradual.
- Anyone who prefers no foreign substances such as hyaluronic acid fillers or botulinum toxin, or wants to complement them.
- For the face, neck, décolleté and the backs of the hands.
When I do not perform the treatment:
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- With clotting disorders, a low platelet count, anticoagulant therapy (assessed individually), active cancer or chemotherapy.
- With active herpes, inflammation or a skin disease at the treatment site, and during an acute infection with fever.
- With unrealistic expectations: PRGF does not replace volume, does not lift sagging skin and does not smooth deep folds. If that is the effect you want, I will tell you so at the consultation rather than sell you a treatment that cannot deliver it.
How it works
- Consultation and photographs. We talk about your health, medication and what bothers you. No X-rays are needed. Photographs at the start are the only honest measure of the result.
- Blood draw. We take 10–20 ml of blood from a vein in your arm, exactly as for a laboratory test.
- Preparing the plasma. The blood is centrifuged for about 8 minutes, the platelet-rich fraction is separated and activated just before use. Everything happens in a closed sterile system with no added foreign substances; preparation takes about 15 minutes.
- Preparing the skin. The skin is cleansed and disinfected; if you wish, we apply an anaesthetic cream that takes effect after 20–30 minutes.
- Application. Using a fine needle, the plasma is placed in small amounts across the whole face using the mesotherapy technique, and into the neck and décolleté if needed. This takes 20–30 minutes; the whole visit takes 60–75 minutes.
- Repeat sessions. The initial effect requires 3 sessions 3–4 weeks apart, followed by a maintenance session once or twice a year.

The price is per session, with no surcharge for materials and no hidden items; no X-ray is required for it. If you also have a dental examination, we prepare a written treatment plan with the final price (50 € with a panoramic X-ray, 80 € with 3D CBCT). PRGF facial treatment is an aesthetic service and is not covered by public health insurance.
After the treatment
- For the first few hours the skin is red and slightly swollen, small bumps may appear at the injection points, and occasionally a small bruise. Everything settles within 1–3 days, and most patients return to work the next day.
- No make-up for 12–24 hours; avoid sauna, sun, swimming pools and intense exercise for 48 hours. For a week before and a few days after the treatment do not take anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen, because they inhibit platelet function.
- The first effect, better hydration and freshness of the skin, appears after 2–4 weeks. Collagen formation is slower; the full change in texture and firmness is visible 2–3 months after the last session.
- The result lasts 6–12 months, longer in non-smokers and with consistent sun protection. One session every 6–12 months is enough to maintain it.
- The response is individual. In some patients the change is subtle; anyone expecting a dramatic transformation will be disappointed, and I prefer to say so in advance.

Frequently asked questions
Does PRGF facial treatment hurt?
The fine-needle injections feel like light pricks; with anaesthetic cream most patients describe the treatment as uncomfortable rather than painful. The areas around the mouth and eyes are the most sensitive.
When is the effect visible and how long does it last?
The first effect after 2–4 weeks, the full effect 2–3 months after the end of the course. It lasts 6–12 months and is then maintained with a top-up session.
Is PRGF the same as PRP or the “vampire facelift”?
The principle is the same, plasma from your own blood. PRGF is a standardised protocol in which the plasma is prepared without leukocytes and activated immediately before use, so the response is more predictable and the inflammatory reaction smaller. The word “facelift” is misleading; PRGF does not lift the skin, it improves its quality.
Can PRGF replace fillers or botulinum toxin?
No. Fillers add volume, botulinum toxin relaxes the muscles of expression, PRGF regenerates the skin itself. The treatments complement each other and many patients combine them, but each solves a different problem.
How much does the whole course cost?
Three sessions at 190 € each, 570 € in total. A maintenance session once or twice a year also costs 190 €.
What side effects are possible?
Redness, swelling and bruising that settle within a few days. Because we use only your own blood, there is no allergy and no rejection. Infection is extremely rare with sterile technique and adherence to the aftercare instructions.
